The Friars
The ordained ministers of our parish are Franciscan Friars. They belong to a fraternity of religious men which traces its roots back to St. Francis of Assisi in the thirteenth century. The Friars belong to the Conventual Franciscan Order, a branch of the Franciscan family that highlights community life.
The Friars do not approach life as individuals but as brothers in a fraternity. The home in which they live is called a friary, rather than a rectory. In the friary, the Friars gather for prayer together twice a day in their small chapel and share the evening meal together each day.
Through their life and prayer in community, they try to offer support to each other in their common journey to God and in the diverse ministries. Their hope is that their common life will be a witness and encouragement to the members of the parish and even to the world.
