Sacrament of Reconciliation
We celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) on Saturdays from 3:45 – 4:30 pm at Holy Name. You can also call the Parish Office to schedule a Conession.
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
We anoint the sick with the oil of the Sacrament whenever there is a need or request. Please call the Parish Office to arrange for Father to minister this Sacrament.
Sacrament of Baptism
We join mothers and fathers in giving thanks to God for the gift of their children. We are eager to welcome new Christians into the saving mysteries of Jesus Christ. Baptism is an important moment in the life of a child and a child’s parents.
Prayerful preparation and a good understating of the privilege and responsibilities involved are essential in order to celebrate this Sacrament well. It begins with a family’s weekly worship at Sunday Mass and continues with prayer in the home. Prayer and understanding are supported by our parish’s Baptismal Catechesis, an evening during which parents and sponsors (godparents) gather with a parish catechist. Together they pray and reflect upon faith and worship in their lives.
Since membership and participation in a community of faith are central to Baptism, parents who request this Sacrament for their child need to be registered and practicing members of our parish. Similarly, sponsors, who are representatives of the Church at Baptism, need to be registered and practicing members of a Catholic parish, at least sixteen years of age, be Baptized, Confirmed and have received Holy Eucharist. A non-Catholic Christian may be able to serve as a Witness for the Faith at Baptism. Please call the Parish Office to talk about the Sacrament of Baptism and to register your child for this Sacrament.
Sacrament of Marriage
We share the joy of our members whom the Lord is calling to life and love in the Sacrament of Marriage. In their faithful and enduring love for one another, Christian married couples become the image of God’s faithful and enduring love for us. In the Catholic tradition, Marriage is more than a contract. It is a covenant, a sacrament, a solemn commitment which two people make before God and His People to be with and for one another through life. It is a Sacrament founded on faith, hope and love.
Prayer and preparation are important before taking such a wonderful step. Prayer begins with a couples’ weekly worship at Mass with the faith community. It continues with a couple’s conversations with God together and alone. Preparation begins formally one year prior to the wedding.
A couple is asked to contact the parish one year before the date they are considering and before they make any social plans, like printing invitations or renting a hall. During the ensuing year, the couple continues to worship, now with their prayer focused on their deepening relationship and eventual marriage. They meet several times during the year with a priest to explore the many facets of Marriage. With other engaged couples, they participate in a Marriage Preparation program to further their discussions and planning. One of the intended spouses needs to be a registered and practicing member of The Parish of the Resurrection.
So that we may assist you to prepare spiritually for Marriage, please call the Parish Office to talk about this Sacrament in your life and a priest will be honored to meet with you.
